At New Directions, Max Monahan Director of Home Repair Program is committed to addressing the pressing need for affordable housing in our community. One of the ways New Direction does this is through their home repair program, designed to help residents maintain their homes and stay in safe, affordable housing. By diversifying our efforts geographically and programmatically they strive to make a difference in neighborhoods across the area.
However, the reality is that funding for affordable housing is limited, and even more scarce when it comes to maintaining existing homes.
“This is a daily struggle we face, but it’s one we are determined to confront. As I often remind my team, the battle for affordable housing is a long and challenging one, and we may not win it overnight. But if we can win “small victories”—helping even five people a week—that’s progress.” – Max Monahan
